Updating Wellbeck Farmhouse B&B
The third website from the Bowhunter portfolio has now received the MGC Websites treatment as the owner felt that it wasn’t bringing in enough enquires. On checking the website’s statistics I could see it was attracting an unusually low volume of visits. Furthermore it was obvious the visual design did not do enough to sell this attractive Farmhouse and caravan site and their wonderful location.
Room for Improvement
Being a hand written ‘flat site’ it had few technical problems but a lack of well written content was holding it back in the search results. As the owner didn’t feel confident to use social media or TripAdvisor the site is both disadvantaged in, and very reliant on, the search engines. It will be interesting to see what effect my updates make in the coming weeks.
As the owner is not engaging with online reviews I choose to insert a randomly selected testimonial from the visitors book at the bottom of each page. Whilst not as convincing as reviews from an independent platform, quotes of any sort are known to influence the potential customer. It also gave me the opportunity to pick testimonials that demonstrate the accommodation is used by a variety of people including families, business men and cyclists.
The unpolished look wasn’t doing the business justice with clashing colours, dull photo’s and little consideration given to layout. Visually this site has gone through a bigger transformation than the Railway Tavern with a new colour scheme and all new photos. Good quality photo’s taken on a sunny day at the right time of year make all the difference and I’ll be back for more when the caravan site is busy in the holidays.
Fit for Purpose
The new look certainly shows the business in a better light and plays on the ‘Farmhouse Experience’ which is a valuable niche in an location with many competing B&B’s. Technically the site passes every test with flying colours and I anticipate well see an increase in website traffic and enquiries very soon.
